Initially, Riker is portrayed as a bold, confident and sometimes arrogant, ambitious young officer but he mellows over time and although is offered his own command several times, he turns them down and stays on the Enterprise. He and Deanna Troi had had a relationship before joining Enterprise and they obviously still have feelings for each other which eventually all come together for a happy romantic ending before Riker then accepts promotion and becomes Captain of the USS Titan
