Star Trek, The Next Generation arrived on our screens in September 1990, 3 years after it first aired in America.  It brought us a brand new crew and a brand new Captain who was so totally different from Kirk. Picard was deeply moral, highly intelligent and logical.  he loved Shakespeare and Detective stories and had a dry sense of humour.  He won us all over with the very first 'Make it so'.
