I first discovered Superman when my Dad would take us to Portobello Road where there was a man with a stall that sold American comics and you could buy the comics and if you were careful with them you could take them back the following week and trade them for more comics.  This whole concept was wonderful to me and the experience was a real adventure!  Superman burst forth from the pages of the comics and fired my imagination and I couldn't get enough. My brother used to tell me that Superman was for boys and I shouldn't read those comics, but I was hooked and nothing was going to stop me!  Many years later when Superman came to the big screen I was just as enthralled with every aspect of the Superman story from the baby sent to Earth to save him to how nobody recognised him behind those glasses!
